In week 3 I happened to catch the Brooklyn action at Nazareth Regional High School Gym.

The first game featured Jamaica vs. New Dimension. Both teams were coming in on a win and were eager to continue their winning streak.

 For a minute it appeared as if New Dimension would be the team to continue on as Jamaica church was not there at the official start of the game. The entire 1^st half ticked by with New Dimension players going through their practice drills and getting a point on the scoreboard for each minute Jamaica church was absent. As the minutes were dwindling down, Jamaica church rushed in but was short 1 player and so the clock ticked on. Finally just as the half ended there were enough Jamaica players on the court to start the game.

Now one would think that with a 16 point lead New Dimension would be the easy winners, but that was not the case. As the whistle blew Jamaica jumped out and stepped up right away getting the tipoff and making the lay up. The game pace continued fast and Jamaica added more points in the 2 minutes before New Dimension was able to capitalize on their shots. Jamaica continued to press hard and New Dimension was just not able to keep up, shots were going wild, they were out rebounded, had little to no defense, made sloppy passes and was not able to complete their plays. The press continued and finally with 8:33 on the clock Jamaica was down by 1 point. New Dimension stepped up and pulled out by 2 points but could not stay ahead and Jamaica tied it 30 all in the 7^th minute. Jamaica then pulled out by 3 points, New Dimension cut the lead to 1 point but in the next few seconds Jamaica extended the lead again to 3, 5, 7, 11 points before New Dimension could respond. New Dimension’s coach was surprisingly quiet during this time. Finally in the 4^th minute New Dimension started getting it together an event that seems to be tied to Coach Powell finally raising his voice. In under a minute the 9 point lead was cut to 5 points before New Dimension stalled again and Jamaica extended the lead to 10 points. In the last minute New Dimension rallied again making lay-ups, foul shots and a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 5 points with 16.2 seconds on the clock. Jamaica church was fouled, made the free throw and it was back to a 6 point lead. With 4.6 seconds on the clock New Dimension made another lay-up to cut the lead to 4 points but then time ran out, the whistle blew ending the game. Final score New Dimension – 56 Jamaica – 60.
