The second week of the season saw the debut of some new teams. I happened to catch some of the action at Elmcore Youth Center.

The first game of the night featured two newcomers Queensboro Temple and Elmont Temple. Queensboro had lost their season opener game and was rearing to get one in the win column. Elmont was ready to put their skills to the test.

After the whistle blew both teams jumped right into the action. With 15:48 on the clock Queensboro #1 was fouled and made both baskets to put QBT on the scoreboard. QBT continued to pull out with a 3pointer followed by another. Elmont was having difficult finding the basket and making their shots count. QBT continued to extend their lead until 12:26 when Elmont got on the board with a 3 pointer. Elmont starting gelling as a team and stepped up the level of their play. QBT responded and the game was on!  The game pace was fast and at times appear to be uncontrolled. Both teams were not playing consistent defense resulting in trading of baskets and rapid ball turnoff. Both teams were not rebounding and following their plays missing numerous opportunities to add to their score. Queensboro stepped it up towards the end of the half to remain in the lead. The score at half time was QBT - 37, Elmont - 20.

Elmont scored first in the second half, QBT responded with a 3 pointer. QBT continued to pull out and extend the lead. The game pace stepped up again as both teams started pressing early. Elmont continued to hustle and cut the lead to 11 points. QBT was not able to find the basket and complete their plays for some time. Finally the QBT scoring drought was broken with a lay-up with 7:19 on the clock. Elmont continued to hustle trying for 3 point jump shots without much success. Their lack of rebounding causes them valuable points. QBT was able to maintain a comfortable lead all the way to the end of the game. Final Score Queensboro Temple - 60, Elmont Temple - 42
